Welcome to Hey, Sis. Meet Candace, Nicole and Melanie (left to right), three sisters working to build a bridge between black-owned businesses and consumers. Our parents raised us to value the importance of supporting each other and investing in the black community, but we realized we weren't putting our money where our mouths were. We wanted to do more, but found it hard to find convenient access to products from black-owned businesses across a variety of categories. Thus the idea of Hey, Sis: a curated box featuring everyday products from black-owned businesses was born! The Hey, Sis. box introduces customers to new products and businesses to customers. By focusing on products from black-owned businesses we hope to make it easier for like-minded individuals to not only support the black community, but also gain access to the wealth of quality products available for day-to-day life.
Melanie - the youngest, is a student at Sacramento State University, where she is currently studying Political Science. She currently works at a law firm that is nurturing her dream of a career as a lawyer. With a vision for local change-making, Melanie sees Hey, Sis. as more than just a box, but a movement. In her free time, you can find her hanging out with her cat, Blue, or her two nieces.
Eldest, Nicole, graduated from UC Santa Barbara with her bachelor's in English. She is a wife and mother of two who works for a local Restorative Justice program. Nicole is an advocate for the positive power of community. She is also an introvert at heart who loves to cuddle up with a cup of tea or coffee and a good book.
Middle child, Candace, graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay with her bachelor's in Human Communications. She now works in Commercial Real Estate, where her passion for diversity and community-building meet. In her free-time, Candace enjoys traveling and discovering new eateries.
